I See You

Audio version available below.

I see you as these leaden tears of disbelief

Drip down your face in solemn grief

I see you

I see you with your wanton rage

I see you attempting to disengage

I see you

I see you grasping for answers and reasons

Hoping this pain is just for a season

I see you

And in seeing you I remember me

When time seemed to stop for eternity

I see me

The me that was rendered in two by death

The me that choked on taking breath

I see me

The me that screamed a thousand silent screams

From under a riptide of nightmare dreams

I see me

And I reach towards you now

To show you my heart’s scars and how

We’ve broken there in similar places

Though your scars are fresh and mine are traces

You are in hell and I’ve passed through

But not so far that I can’t see you

I see you
