We’re Oh So Missing You

  • During the response to the pandemic in 2020 some of us went into withdrawals from performing with and listening to our musician friends. I guess we missed a lot of people. We missed the shop owners, the local dive bars, our hairdressers, and all of us that make up our little towns. This one is for those passionate folks who made us Really Miss Them.

You shared your spirit with us

    Every time you played

    We laughed and sang together

    Some of us even prayed

We held lit lighters and later

    Flashlights on our phones

    We passed joints

And pretended the world was one

    For just a moment

    Or an hour or two

A concert ticket was a pass

To glory for a little while

    Our troubles would melt away

When you would take the stage

    Now they say we’re

    All contagious

    The world’s become

    Just a little more dangerous

    But we miss you

    Our musicians and performers

You’ve always lived life in the raw

On the edge for all to see

Now you’re forced into some kind of

    Weird isolation

    Some non-essential group

    Of “providers”

    We want you back

    We need you now

    More than ever

    We’ve got your back

    We’ll keep you going

    While this virus response attacks

    We need your melodies

    We need your words

You speak for all of us

    And when you’re not heard

    It’s as if the silence

    Is on all of us

    We need you back

    In the world’s soundtrack

    We’re oh so missing you
